EPTA RACE 26th October, Hobie Beach

News Index

Sunday 26th October saw Raynard's first time back at one of the local development races at Hobie Beach in a very long time.

He has been back in training now for 4 weeks since taking time off due to his shin splints injuries. It's been a matter of getting back into some slow, easy mileage and a lot of rehab work.

Raynard wanted to do the race to get back into the swing of things, and wasn't expecting much from himself. Needless to say, he was pleasantly surprised at the result.

He led out the swim with a 90 second gap to James Cunnama. The gap opened up off the bike to 2mins 50sec.

James, as always, had a great run and put in a very good effort, but Ray hung on to win by just under a minute.

The win was not important, but the way Raynard felt in the race, specifically on the run, was very motivational. His shins didn't bother him at all, and he was surprized to have been able to go as fast as he did, on the slow mileage he's been putting in.

On another note, we have been trying to think of ways to give back to the sport, and specifically to all of Ray's sponsors.

Raynard is very fortunate to have the backing that he does have, and his sponsors went one step further yesterday  by donating phenomenal Lucky Draw Prizes which Raynard handed out personally after the event.

Lucky athletes walked away with prizes from Oakley, 2XU , Puma and Action Cycles.

The response and feedback from the athletes was phenomenal and we will be doing the same at the next event on the 29th November.

Be sure to be there to stand a chance of winning one of the prizes or simply chatting to Raynard.

Annah Watkinson - Race Report IM Brazil 2017

Feeling stronger and fitter and more in the "right head space" - I had done some great training over December spending many many many (and many more) hours on the bike - I loved it. My swim was starting to click, I was starting to understand the phrase "feel the water", and my running was strong
