When I asked Annah to write this pre-Kona blog, she was in phenomenal race shape and we confident of her ability to achieve a podium in Kona. Since then, Annah was involved in a bike crash resulting in a badly broken collar bone that needed surgery less than 3 weeks out of Kona.
It’s been a busy year since becoming the first quadriplegic to complete an Ironman in December; racing many events from swimming, cycling and running individually as well as triathlon throughout February to Ma,y but the focus was always going to come down to UCI World champs in cycling and I was confidently hopeful to get a slot at Kona.
