Well, Christmas has come and gone and we are now well into 2009 with the first key race of the year coming up on Sunday. I have had an excellent training period over the holidays and was able to stay focused and disciplined throughout all the festivities, without missing a single session. I am determined to have a good season this year, and hope that with putting in the work, I will see the rewards.

I am very pleased to say that Atlas, Gu and Puma have all renewed their sponsor contracts with me. This is proof of their commitment, support and belief in my abilities. Action Cycles, Cervelo and Oakley are also still commited in their continued support.

I cannot explain what this means to me. Without their support, I would not be where I am today. I can only thank them by giving everything I have this year to accomplishing my goals. I am also planning to go back to Hawaii this year and will be giving World Champs everything I have.

As for the race on Sunday, my training has gone very well for this race, I’ve been focused and single-minded in my preparation for this race and for the upcoming full IM here in PE in April. It’s always difficult training over the Christmas period, but I think the family will be more forgiving if I can pull off a win in East London.

The competition is strong, with Tim Don probably being the biggest threat. He is an ex World Champion, and his strengths are his swimming and cycling. His cycling, however, is also very strong, being able to break away on his own, in a lot of ITU races on the bike – esp on hilly courses.

Fraser Cartmell and Frederick Van Lierde will also be tough competitors, making for a great day of racing.

To everyone who is competing, we’d like to wish you the very best of luck.

Get out there and have fun on the day, and if you’ve trained properly, everything will come together.

I will be at the Cervelo stand at the expo from 9 -10am on Saturday, so drop by and say hello.

Annah Watkinson - Race Report IM Brazil 2017

After a great first year racing in the professional category in 2016, I was amped for the 2017 season. Feeling stronger and fitter and more in the "right head space" - I had done some great training over December spending many many many (and many more) hours on the bike - I loved it. My swim was starting to click, I was starting to understand the phrase "feel the water", and my running was strong
